That should all be part of the equation though, right? Buy out the arbitration years, give him some long term security and insurance against injury, and he gives us a few free agent years. Boras always chose to ignore the security portion, thinking it was much better for him to take 10 guys to free agency, even if one or two are busts due to performance/injury. It's only better for Boras's agency and the 8 guys that it works out for. Not so much for the 1-2 other guys. I always assumed that Boras kept some kind of kitty to pay the guys who it didn't work out for. Otherwise the risk/reward never made sense for the individual players.
There's no deal to be had if Gore sticks with Boras. I'm sure he'd want a Boras special option laden deal that puts all the risk on the Nats, with no real benefit if Gore turns out to be a stud. If guys like him leave Boras though, then there could be a deal that makes sense.
