same old crap from Manny. it's like watching a tape on repeat.

Made excuses for MacDouagal by saying he hadn't pitched in a few days. :?

Okay, that's confusing. Manny just said that Lannan threw it to one side of the plate too much. Are our catchers calling the pitches now?

Manny was exactly the same way last year.  Why didn't he OPEN HIS BIG MOUTH, DURING THE GAME?  Nobody is managing the team during the game.  Acta just makes mental notes during the game, to explain the loss that he expects to occur 73% of the time.

That's why he has to go, ASAP.

Two words, Dave:  Web Cam.  We deserve it.

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/dcsportsbog/2009/07/rob_dibble_on_the_nats_its_pat.html

Noted in D.C Sports Bog this AM.

Dibble and Knight spoke the truth. Yes, Bowden assembled a poor combination of players, but blaming it on some lack of cohesion is over analyzing it. The team lacks at defense up the middle and relief pitching, and has some underperformers on the bench who inexplicably get more playing time.

Lack of talent or cohesion aside, this team is made up of big league ballplayers. Their record is pathetic. You have to try to be this bad. 120 loss seasons are a rarity. The team is not executing properly. Over the last 30 days, we have had 5 pitchers put up better numbers at the plate than Austin Kearns, and at least two better than Belliard. Guzman has been in a spiral offensively and defensively. With no set lineup, it has become a mess.

It is one thing to switch things up if you are actually benching a guy. But they continue to experiment day to day with different combinations that seem more about keeping everybody happy who is getting a paycheck than anything. Why not decide what the best chance of winning is and then field that, then make other guys earn their way to more playing time and earn their way to keeping their spots? Dibble is right. The players have to look at each other and decide who wants to play.

And if they are sick of the bullpen nonsense, which they should be, a group of them long ago should have stormed the front office and demanded changes.

yes. seriously. Him and Guzman are two of the biggest culprits for dogging it. He is not hustling. He is slow to getting to balls, always throws to the wrong base. When he does throw to the right base the throw is way short or off line.

Dunn's ABs have been awful. Swinging for the fences in every AB. popped the ball straight up in the air in a crucial situation with runners on base and no outs early in the game.

Then he's "dogged it" his whole career.  We knew that's what we were getting when we signed him.

You see it differently than me.  If I had a player like Dunn on my team (and I have a few guys like Dunn - defensively - on my team) I don't view them as mailing it in, just less talented than others.

I think you're confusing a lack of athleticism for a lack of effort.

Geez we're bad. We have officially hit rock bottom. Dibbs and Knight are done sugar-coating this thing. Knight flat-out said they need to clean house.

I view that as good.  I was tired of finding out how much worse it's going to get.  If we truly have hit rock-bottom, we can start the recovery process.

Actually I had a feeling that may be misinterpreted. I wasn't laughing at your dilemma (at least not entirely ). I just thought the image the post was conveying was funny as hell.

No worries, I got it.

It was a bad day.

First:  work sucked all day.

Then I went home to care for the kids since Thursday is girls night out and my wife and her friends have get togethers.  Since the kids don't go to bed until 8:00 p.m. ET, I missed the make up game (which is the only win we've had  lately).

I get them in bed and get back downstairs in time to get the first inning of the second game.

The Nats take the 4-1 lead and then the wife gets home.   :whip:

The Nats still lead 4-2 when the wife comes downstairs into the basement to "chat" about her evening.    :blah:

The Nats blow the lead, she sticks around and surfs the web on her laptop and I can't check out Berkley's new offerings 'cause she's sitting right there.

One of the worst nights of my life.     :?      :hang:

Looking back at it objectively, though, it's funny as hell.
