Don't know why (old age?) my mind went to "Sudden" Sam McDowell.   Maybe it's a Pittsburgh thing.

Dunn had to have just signed already- 3 years 45 million with a club option 20 million on the 4th year. He's relaxed and on fire!

If that happened there would be no way the Nats pick up the fourth year.

Maybe so but at that point I don't think it would matter. That's 3 full years to find someone to replace the bat. But from Dunn's perspective, his and his agent would be fools to think the Lerners would pick up that option when they are reluctant to pay him now when he is still in his prime.

Besides, 3 years would be fine with me.

Not for Hudson.  He's getting calls that Jordan isn't.

There's a reason why MLB needs to go to a pitch track with a buzzer alerting the ump to ball or strike on every pitch.

Sure, if you want to see 4.5 hour 15-12 games every night.  Bad Umps suck, but the game needs that element.  "Perfect" strike zones aren't the answer.

But bad strike zones should be equally bad for both sides.

Into his 3rd year the Nats are in the playoff race and get to the World Series. Dunn hits 45 HRs. Do the Nats exercise the Option?

Well sure, but veteran guys are gonna get more calls, you know that.  Not saying it's right, but we've benefited from it before, too.

That's true in all professional sports.    LeBron, Jerry West, Hines Ward, Hudson, Koufax, etc. get away with "stuff" others don't.    Good eye Chief ...

I went to HS with a guy who spent 12 years in the NBA and he always talked about the breaks the "names" would get.
