Sure, if you want to see 4.5 hour 15-12 games every night.  Bad Umps suck, but the game needs that element.  "Perfect" strike zones aren't the answer.

How does an immediate buzz to the ump make the game take longer than it does now?  Ball crosses plate, buzz goes to ump, ump makes call.  It's a freaking 2-3 second thing and no longer than what is done now.

I think we have a poster who would disagree with Bob's definition of "home run cycle"

What do we think about the Phillies?  Well, other than that...

Do we want to them to clinch before they get here?

You misunderstand me.  I mean that if the strike zone becomes perfectly consistent, hitters will be teeing off.

It reminded me of your hatred of the Braves.

Cover the floor? :old:

Seriously though, I don't remember.  I hate all of our division rivals more at some times than others.  Braves are probably my least-hated right now, but the sight of their fans flocking to our stadium annoys me because you don't expect it.  They're a fairly fair-weather fanbase, and don't travel nearly as well as the Philthies or Mets.  You at least expect those jerks to show up and ruin a nice night of baseball.  Who expects to be outnumbered by visiting Braves fans?

Did your friend ever play? Or was he a token guy on the bench? Tell us the years and a choice of teams and lets see if we can figure it out.

I'd say acquaintance, but I knew him well ... Bulls in the '70s.    We played "ball" together in the 3rd and 4th grade.   His skill level was way beyond mine :)   But I knew him for almost 50 years.
