If (like us) any of you subscribe to YouTube TV, take note that next Friday is the first Caps game of the season set to air on NBC Sports Washington Plus, i.e., the alternate channel that goes live only when two games conflict with each other. YouTube TV doesn't carry that channel. The solution is to download the NBC Sports app and log into it using your YouTube TV user ID and password. Note that the NBC Sports "My Teams" app they advertise during the games doesn't seem to work properly with the YouTube TV login: I tried it last night as a way to avoid missing part of the game when I needed to go sit in the john during the second period (pausing the game wasn't an option because Ms1995hoo was watching), but it refused to show me the Caps game when I was logged in. The main NBC Sports app, however, worked fine.

The reason to set it up in advance is because if you want to run the NBC Sports app on a device like an Apple TV or an Amazon Fire TV device, you have to go through some rigamarole about "authorizing" the device. The easiest thing is to use your phone and scan the QR code that will appear on your TV screen when it comes time to log in. It may or may not make you enter your YouTube TV password on your phone (mine didn't), and then a few minutes later the TV screen will refresh on its own.

It looks like tonight's game has been moved to the main channel because the NBA game was postponed, so the above no longer applies (though it will at some point when both teams play at the same time).
