Laura Van Gilder won the Crystal Cup criterium this Sunday for Mello Mushroom/Warner Construction. She's local and 52, and she's been winning major women's criteria around the country. She's been a competitive cyclist since the early 90s.
As for Warner Construction, they say they are a construction consulting company, but I just think it is a front for a cycling organization. During the "non-competitive" amateur Challenge Ride before the races, their top 6 riders completed 66 circuits of CC (Crystal Drive / 23d St) to Wilson Boulevard in Rosslyn over 3 hours. The riders averaged 25 MPH over that time, maybe higher.
