Put me in the camp of "Officially Worried."

He's coming back from injury.  But the question is will he be an above contributor for the MLB team in '25, and that's not clear.  Also a concern that the Nats have drafted patient power hitters with top 5 picks the last 2 drafts, and both are playing below expectations.   It's a contact hitting org with a speed emphasis.  Jacob Young was a year older in AA than Crews is now at AA with about a .14 K rate vs .3 for Crews.  Both were 21 in Single A playing in their draft year, both out the SEC, but Young had about a .15 K rate with the FredNats vs. .3 for Crews.

I wouldn't give up on Crews, but it's also not clear the org is adjusting his development process to his strengths, rather than trying to push him into a process that favors contact hitters.

I'm going to wait for July before panicking on him. He's in a bad place. He can work his way out of it.

I have not given up on Crews, either. And I don't know how the entire organization teaches hitting. I remember when Ted Williams took over the Expansion Senators. Ted's first sentence to Frank Howard: "Can you take a pitch?" He challenged Howard to wait for a good pitch, and to make contact. Big Frank hit .296 that year, with 48 home runs. If James Wood, also thought to be too tall to play baseball, hits like Howard we will all jump and cheer.

Who is Dylan Crews, though? I hope he is a 25 homer guy who hits near .300. My favorite CF: Bernie Williams. (As Casey Stengel used to say, "You can look him up")

Langford was 0-4 with 2Ks and is now batting .238 with a .628 OPS FWIW.

Crews' k rate is aberration. He's going to improve. I expect if he's healthy, May will be a very good month.

Do you want Crews to be like Bernie Williams the baseball player? Or the musician? Can Crews play an instrument.

Crews will definitely rebound. Not worried about him in the least. He had a few slumps at LSU and then would be en fuego. He will adapt and push forward.

sittting out the nightcap. either his hamstring still isn't 100% or they are just being cautious.

here's the triple. Hit the base of the wall and died.

More impressively, Ted even made a decent hitter for two seasons out of weak hitting Eddie Brinkman. Brinkman, a fine fielding SS had batting averages for three full seasons in the 185-.190 range. He hit .260 and .262 under Ted.

Nice because looked like they were playing him thinking he couldn’t pull a fastball.  But he did.  Great speed. He will be fine.

A lot of overreacting to a very small sample size.  This guy isn’t a Robles that was all projection.  Crews was a stud SEC player.  He’s going to be a really good player one day, and it can start to click in a big way at any point.

Agreed.  Writing him off or calling him overrated because of a rocky start to one season is absurd at best.  Some of you sound like WFAN callers.
