Tied for first place in 2020 standings.
Good luck to them next year. Stroman is a free agent after next year.

Damn, with Bryce Harper's history of late season heroics, the Phillies will be a tough out!

Eh he's due to suffer from "flu-like symptoms"

Or Wheeler. Makes a lot more sense to trade Wheeler at this point.
No, the Mets are going ALL IN because they are playing EXTREMELY well.  Here are the 7 teams competing for 2 WC spots:

Cubs or Cardinals (one will likely win the division)
Brewers
Phillies
Giants
Mets
Diamondbacks
Nats

In order for the Nats to to have a reasonable chance, Rizzo needs to trade for TWO established bullpen arms.  Alternately, he can trade for one established bullpen arm and one established starting pitcher.  Nothing less will suffice.  If he cannot accomplish this monumental feat, then objectively it makes sense to SELL, SELL, SELL.

Huh, what?  Playing extremely well???  Because they won 4 games in a row?   Even adding a pitcher, they are still 10:1 long shots to pass 5-6 teams to get a WC

Tonight’s game is on ESPN+. Tomorrow is the MLB tv free game of the day. So don’t have to resort to those pesky Reddit streams.

Drew Smyly has been outstanding for the Phillies in his 2 starts.

Atlanta is better than us.  If Max is out we aren’t a wild card team.  Rough homestand.

If Max is out for a while it is now going to be very difficult to catch Atlanta. Nats needed to take at least 2/3.

Agreed. Should have been sellers at the deadline.

I wonder if they finally pull the trigger to get Greene after witnessing Luke Jackson today?

Only 6 of our next 30 are against winning teams, so there's that. D-Backs & Giants will be tough cause we suck ass on the West Coast. Mets in Citi Field has to be a series win. Then Reds at home before Brewers, which is probably a series loss. Have to keep winning series without Max.

This thread can be officially closed.

Nats can still get one of the two WC spots.

Looks like the Mets are the team to beat in the NL East.  Who'd have seen that coming?
