this team has to start swinging earlier in the count. McCarthy is just grooving meatballs for first pitch strike every time.

Moore, Espinosa, and Desmond just do not put the ball into play enough.

4th   A Hill homered to left.
7th   Jayson Werth-it homered to left center.

Also, has the Washington Nationals Baseball club been briefed on the rule that says you can hit the ball over the wall with someone on base.

I thought Williams was a "numbers" proponent?  For no other reason, Span shouldn't be batting leadoff than his OBP is too low.  That's all he has to say.  Why is his performance completely irrelevant to his position?

The entire lineup should be built like that.  They can't do much worse than they're doing right now.

Maybe it is Rizzo's call?  But I always thought he was a numbers guy too.

For some reason, the center fielder must lead off.  Maybe somebody told him it was in the rule book.

Fister out-pitched Zimmermann and Stras by a mile.

From Matt's discussion with the Junkies a week ago I feel like he is close to pulling the trigger on moving Span out of the leadoff spot.

I'm glad Fister is pitching well and all...  but I can't stand to watch my favourite team go up to bat.  What fun is that?

This team thinks lazy fly balls, weak grounders and flailing at wild pitches is the key to success!!!!!  I can't take it.
