Thought it was about time for a designated hot stove thread for non-Nats transactions and rumors.

Braves made out like bandits in the Simmons trade. Teams are already asking about Aybar. They're going to flip him for a small, but reliable piece. 2018 is going to be there year.

Can't see the market staying like that, right? Desmond may still get over $100M then

Maybe Tampa Bay would want Aybar, especially if they get the $2.5MM to help cover the cost.  Asdrubel is an FA, and while they have Beckham and Lee (and maybe some other pieces), I'm guessing they would find a way to use Aybar and hope his bat is back.  Forsythe is gone, too, right?

They released Lee.

They released Lee.
they also have I think a Daniel Robertson as a SS prospect they got from the As in one of the trades (same name as an OF that the Angels released).

Kimbrel to the Red Sox. Could be part of a bigger package. Tyson Ross name has been rumored. Asuaje, Margot, and Logan all named as headed to SD

Four prospects heading back to the Pads. Two in the top 80 per MLB's ranking, all four in the Top 30 Red Sox prospects.

OF - Manuel Margot #25
SS - Javier Guerra #76
SP - Logan Allen
IF - Carlos Asuaje

Dom loves to over pay. Anyone who thinks we're getting Chapman for cheap is crazy

Margot and Guerra would be a lot, but Kimbrel with 3 years of control at $37MM ($25MM guaranteed) is pretty reasonable - not Miller good, but reasonable.  The other pieces I don't know, but the Sox are pretty young in the outfield.  They still have Benintendi, and they still might move a JBJr.  Others may know the system better than me.

I can only assume the Sox are going to be big players in free agency

Brett Anderson accepted the QO. Smart move. With the market for starters, he wasn't going to get a good deal with a draft pick attached.

I guess the asking price for Chapman was too high.

So are the Padres going to rebuild again?

why are we all typing in Vega? :)

Margot turned into a stud in 2016 in OOTP, he would have been a nice CF piece for us.
