I wonder how Martis will do this inning.
Lead-off walk. He needs to throw a lot more strikes.

nice first start by Martis. He obviously needs to throw more strikes but he looked pretty calm and collected out there despite going through a few tough spots.

Yep. Based on Gameday, it's a good first start - we got three and a half really fabulous innings from him (namely 1, 2, part of 3, and 5), and he was able to limit the damage in the others. He needs to work on getting his 91-mph fastball into the strike zone with more accuracy, but he's 21 and I expect that to improve over time. Would like to see another start from him this year.

A pity that we didn't give him a win.

I can't believe how bad our offense has looked tonight. Incredible.

Just go for it here.  The offense looks like crap anyway.  They might not be this close to a first down for the rest of the night.

Zorn's playcalling has been a freaking joke. Gibbs version: 2008. Awful.

Durant Brooks has punted like crap tonight.

I was going to say just that.  Do we have Gibbs at the helm again?  I'm having deja vu.  This will be a long year.

Hey, glad to see Mock out - hope they'll give him two or three innings of work.

love that little snippet on the NFC East.

best, most fun division in football.  period. 4 teams whose fans absolutely hate each other(in the "f*ck your team" sense, not the "I hope you die" sense).

no other division in the NFL has anything on the intensity of the NFC East rivalries.

Jason Taylor appears to be a waste. The defensive line has not done jack crap tonight. The G-men's o-line have been holding like crazy but still the d-line's effort has been weak.

Carlos Rogers and Fred Smoot should hang it up. Those stupid freakers can't even catch a football. Both have had balls thrown right to them tonight and both times they dropped it.

Can this team hit? Good god what an awful offensive showing against the worst pitching staff in the NL.

Somebody told them they'd lost the #1 pick.

Zorn's playcalling has been a f****** joke. Gibbs version: 2008. Awful.
Durant Brooks has punted like s*** tonight.

WHEN has Zorn EVER called plays?   Is it... NEVER?  He wasn't even a coordinator.  Campbell needed to play at least a half, or entire games in pre-season, to get ready.  He looks as bad as he did in the last pre-season game - clueless deer staring into headlights.  Eli is not Peyton, but he looks rusty too.   Eli should be eating this team for breakfast and running up the score.

I really think the NFL should have had the Giants play Dallas for the opener.

Where the freak was that, Campbell?  You had him 1-on-1.

Don't worry. The Redskins receivers are terrible. They can't create separation at all.

Figures. Then you have Devin Thomas running his route 1 yard short of the first down marker. pitiful.

Punt coming up here.  Zorn has no spine.

Also, calling a freaking stop-and-go with Moss when he had 1-on-1 on the outside was amateur bullcrap.  If he runs a streak and doesn't stop there, he would've smoked his man and been wide open.

Ugh, I feel like sportsfan tonight.

we had pressure coming, Campbell didn't have time to wait for Thomas to run one more yard. we woulda got to him.

that was a big tackle by the rookie Phillips though.

It's been awful and it keeps getting worse because they keep getting opportunities and doing nothing with them. No excuse to keep coming up short of the marker. That's like the second or third time we've had a 4th and 1.

Washington will host the San Diego Padres the Sept 19-21 weekend.  THAT's the time to get swept.
