Guests printing threads
« Topic Start: August 25, 2008, 01:22:35 AM »
Hey, can we block guests printing threads?  I saw, probably a drone, printing a thread about Andrew that Nospin started last year or so.  It concerns me what someone would want with printing that thread.  I'd understand if it was something like the Crow discussions or whatever, but that one makes not sense.

There's no separate permission for thread printing, but even if there were I couldn't stop guests from simply printing through their web browser unless I deny them access to the board altogether.

What's with hidden users? Is that people who have you on ignore? Aren't Off Topic threads inaccessible to guests anyway?

Hmm. How can you tell they are printing it?

I saw that yesterday for the first time.  Halfsmokes was online, + hidden user.  Wonder if that means he was logged in twice, or once as a guest or something.  Halfsmokes, are you up to something clandestine?

Probably half a smoke was in one place, half in another, watching us in stereo.

Pardon my lack of knowledge on the Web lingo, but what is a drone and how did Kim know this "drone" was printing it?

I'm actually a pretty smart lil cookie!

Drones are other computer programs/tech bots that "surf" websites all the time.

Ok, so there's a print button at the top and bottom of the screen - on the "reply" toolbar. It gives you a clean view of a page that's printer-friendly. There's no way to know what someone else's printer is doing.

I'm guessing a Google-bot was archiving the page, but you never know  . . .
