Jimmy Rollins seems to have transitioned into one of those athletes who can make news simply by opening his mouth.

The latest example came yesterday, when Rollins offered his view on Philadelphia's notorious sports fans during yesterday's taping of Fox Sports' "Best Damn Sports Show Period."

After being asked whether Philadelphia was as tough a place to play as the national media sometimes portrays, Rollins answered:

"There are times," he said. "I might catch some flak for saying this, but, you know, they're front-runners. When you're doing good, they're on your side. When you're doing bad, they're completely against you."

Rollins then mentioned the hometown of teammate, and fellow show guest, Ryan Howard as a differently wired fan base.

"For example, Ryan is from St. Louis and St. Louis, it seems like they support their team, they're out there and encouraging. In Philly, can't be no punk."

nice swing, Jesus. The wind prevented it from being a homer. Good job of tagging up, RB.

Casto looks horrible. Why does he refuse to pull the ball? Same crap that he did last year.

lead-off double wasted. great. Bergmann should be embarrassed for being so bad with the bat.

At least Bergmann hit the ball harder than Casto.  I have supported Casto, but 180 doesn't cut it in the bigs, not even for the Nats.

No it doesn't. I'm disappointed in him. He looked so much better when they first called him up. I don't think he's pulled a ball for a base hit since his HR in Seattle. It seems like he always tries to go to LF which is what he did last year.

I think that is the Lenny Harris philosophy in action.

Chico Harlan should do a story on Lenny Harris, and ask him to explain his hitting philosophy.

Most of us are on our front office and owners.  I mean look at our roster, half of them should not be on a MLB roster.  While it's on the players, most of us are well educated on the game that we know it's not like we were going to be competitive from the start.

In Phillies case, they have a solid line-up and it's Philly we're talking about.  The fans are jerks in all sports.

I think Lenny's philosphy eschews being a pull-hitter, in favor of making a concerted effort to hit the ball the other way.

I really think if Bergmann f*cks up the rest of the year he won't be on this roster next season - or at least not in the rotation.

I agree.

Ugh, tie game. There's the difference between a good team and a bad team. We squander our opportunity and they cash in theirs'.

I'm not talking about the ones who post on forums, I got a good handle on them.

I'm talking about the ones at the stadium night after night.

EB needs to make some real solid contact.  he needs to smoke one, even if it is caught. he starts doing that, and the hits will come back.

it seems like he is real tentative at the plate now, and that doesn't really suit his style. he needs to swing and make contact.

Yep, ever since people have been getting on him for not walking enough he has looked real tentative and over patient at the plate.

My level of respect for Jimmy Rollins just went up several notches.

They don't care.  They care about Screech, Racing Presidents, T-shirt tosses, Playstation and Ben's Chili bowl.  Most of us on here just want to see a good ballgame - preferably a win.
