I would've left him in to finish the 8th.

Even ronnynat concedes before the game even starts.

If we did win it would be the biggest upset of the season.

Horribly tough match-up though. Their stud ACE at home against our rookie pitcher and last place team. Also, they are off today while we play a double-header half-way across the country.

Yeah, I just can't help it.

Sabathia's stats since joining the Brewers:

Only C.C. can beat C.C. in the game against the Nats. Those are the type of games where you really wish your team had a power threat.

Nah. He was over 100 pitches and the heart of their order was due up. Too risky, especially against this team in this park. Manny didn't want it to get out of hand.

Shell
Mock
Manning
Rivera
Hanrahan
??
??

2009 bullpen.

only real question mark I see is Closer, and whether Hanrahan can handle it, or if we need to get someone else in there.

and we've got an extra slot if we don't carry Colome and Ayala.

thoughts?

Do you think we'll score a run off of him?

Sheets isn't going to be that much easier to beat. Thankfully we get Parra and Bush to follow.

Don't know if Manning will be back. Shell has looked good but it's too early too declare if he'll be back. I wouldn't mind if we signed a few BP arms and maybe converted someone else like Clippard to a reliever.

Bergmann has a 4.13 ERA after today's performance. I really don't think that is terrible.

even so, NOTLD is correct.

Bergmann is WAY too inconsistent. he's our Jekyll and Hyde. we never know which Bergmann we are going to get during each start.

Call him Dr. Bullets and Mr. Beachball.  some starts he throws bullets, some starts he throws beachballs.

It's just not #1 or #2 quality, which is what he looked like today. I think people feel teased in a way by this type of performance by him. When Bergmann's on, which is every third or fourth outing, he's got #2 stuff. It's frustrating that he's not consistent, but he'd still be one of the better #4 or #5 pitchers in the league.

I agree it's frustrating, but he'd be on a lot of team's rosters.

I'm a Bergy fan, although I think he would be more valuable out of the pen.

MrMadison, I didn't see him get upset, he looked fine to me walking off the hill?

Shell has been pitching great other than the run in the 8th. His curve is sick. He could be a closer someday. And he is the reason we always should trade away guys like Rauch for position prospects. Bull-pen guys are easy to come by.

You don't see Cordero back next year?

Let Shell go out for the 9th? I say save as many arms as we can for the next game.

My opinion on the discussion going on: Berg has a good #2 pitchers stuff when he is on but in reality he is a 4 or 5 pitcher on an above-average team.

he didn't look to happy when he gave the ball to Manny.

and bergmann actually started out as a reliever for us in 2005.  and was damn good.  he was forced to start when we ran out of starting pitchers in the wild card stretch, and then we converted him to a full-fledged starter in 2006.

Maybe one or two. I also don't think Balester can handle a lineup like that yet.

He was non-tendered, didn't you hear?
If we want him back, we will need to pick him up via free agency.

No way Cordero is back in my opinion. And for the other spots: Martis? Clippard? free-agent?

not as far as I can tell. i was under the impression that he'd need like 18 months or so to heal from his surgery.

It'll be interesting. He's held down the Reds and Marlins powerful lineups already this season.

They do have a ton of HR hitters and Balester has the penchant for giving up the long ball.
