That's what offenses are supposed to do (at least every once in a while) for their pitchers when they struggle.

I completely agree. But anyone who thinks giving up that many runs in that situation that early is completely nuts. No matter how you cut it, it's not good.

I'll bet Jim Leyland was rooting for Flores to hit a HR there.

No reason for Bergmann not to go 7 with a 6-run lead and 8-9-1 due up.

That'd be huge because we'll definitely have to use our pen in the second game after Perez gets rocked.

I don't think he'll get rocked. He had a damn good game last time out.

Exactly
He has pitched well enough to win at least 6 or 7 games, yet he has a 1-8 record. He messed up, but all pitchers struggle. He is more than making up for that today.

This game is important, because Odalis vs. Ubaldo won't be easy. We needed this one.

You have to give Bergy a shot to go out in the 8th. We have no idea how bad Odalis will be today.

The Rockies will tee off on him more than likely. They are 19-13 against LHPs this year. Even if he gives up 3-4 runs it won't be good enough because we'll score little to none against Ubaldo.

Great inning. I'd like to see him go 1 more but with the heart of the order due up and JB near 100 pitches that may not be wise.

Sound familiar? This was said when Aaron Cook was pitching too. Last season we had no shot against Peavy, Webb, or Santana either.
You never know what will happen. Tomorrow will be really tough with CC on the mound.

Are you and Tomterp related? You both seem to like ignore simple facts such as: it would take more than one game against the Rockies in a losing season to make up for three years of inadequate pitching and inconsistency.

I'm guessing Casto and Nieves will start in the second game. Casto is a lefty, though. Who else can play first besides him and Belliard now?

No one warming up in the pen... I completely agree with this. He isn't a rookie, he should be able to throw 110 pitches.

As big as underdogs as we are in the game later tonight (Rockies -240 favorites), tomorrow's game against C.C. makes tonight's large spread look rather ordinary.

Currently, the Brewers are -308 favorites for tomorrow night's game (CC VS Balester). According to a betting forum I visit, that is the biggest line of the entire MLB season thus far. Crazy.

No, I hate the Twerps

I think Bergmann has grown as a pitcher. '06 he was horrendous, I agree. Last season he wasn't that horrible. I think this season, he is a legitimate 4th or 5th starter. I definitely think he should be back next season... I'd take him over Odalis any day.

I'm happy with Balester, Lannan, Redding, and Bergmann. We just need another starter, preferably a 1-2 guy.

I've already gotten over that loss. We just shouldn't win that one.

Bergmann isn't perfect but I'd much prefer him over Perez and Redding.

Bergmann is and always will be expendable. He is way too up and down for my tastes.

Even ronnynat concedes before the game even starts.

If we did win it would be the biggest upset of the season.

Horribly tough match-up though. Their stud ACE at home against our rookie pitcher and last place team. Also, they are off today while we play a double-header half-way across the country.

Props to Bergmann. He was awesome today.

Let's hope the pen can hang on to give him his first win since May 15th in New York.

Bergmann has a 4.13 ERA after today's performance. I really don't think that is terrible.
