....Do you think it's worthwhile taking a flyer on Bret Boone?  If a change of scenery helps him out, then there's your power threat and you wouldn't have to give anything up for him if he clears waivers.

Boone has ended up as a real disappointment in his career; he had two pretty decent seasons, 2001 and 2003 I believe, but was mostly undistinguished in his career after 1994.  Maybe he's the next Drese (admit it: there's something really heartwarming about how all these ne'er-do-wells and no-hopers manage to find a home and turn it around in Washington), but I doubt it.

Bret Boone would like to play for Minnesota. So if he ends up a free agent, chances are he will sign with them and leaving the Nats with zero chances of getting him. As it stands now, the Padres and Twins are interested. If he gets traded, it'll probably be to one of them.

Thing is though, unless he was going to play, getting him wouldn't be a viable option.

The last thing Boone wants at this point is to be a utility player.  More importantly, the cavernous dimension of RFK would serve as a deathtrap for a fly-ball hitter like him.  This is not a good fit at all.

Now the mystery of Patterson bunting yesterday has been solved.  On the pregame show they said that Robinson's choice was Spivey but he didn't know that he had left for xrays.  Second choice was Hernandez but he wasn't wearing a game jersey since he never thought he would get into the game.  So he had to use Patterson.  Doesn't reflect kindly on bench management.
