My impression of Jim Zorn is that he is a legendary QB in Seattle, in much the same way that Sonny Jurgensen is viewed by many Redskins' fans.

The difference is that he was legendary because of when he played for Seattle. Sonny Jurgensen was a legitimate HOF QB. Zorn was not very good when all is said and done. He was mediocre but he was their first QB so I see why they regard him so highly.

LOL @ Mike Holmgren being a former QB. He looks more like a lineman.

Teams are required to interview one minority candidate for head coach.

Oh, Ok.  Makes sense as long as there are qualified candidates.

I keep hearing that good things happen to coaches under Holmgren.  That they become good coaches.  I personally don't know.

By the way, he could have at least done a little research on the team.... MAROON AND BLACK?  .  Come on now, for years its been BURGUNDY AND GOLD!   >:(  Sheesh!  Not a way to endear yourself to fans by getting the colors wrong.  Of course they flashed a black screen with Redskins helmets on them in that part of the news conference where he made that remark about the colors.  Personally, I hate the changing backgrounds..

I actually wouldn't mind maroon and black too much. But that's probably because I get enough gold w/ ND. :D

I still wonder how long we'll be able to hold on to the name. I doubt we can keep it forever. I don't think I'd like just "Skins" too much. :?

We should be able to hold on to that name for as long as we want and I think we will. No matter, you know how I still call our basketball team the Bullets, most of us will always call the Redskins the Redskins and there is nothing that can stop us from doing so.

You do know what "redskin" means, right?

I dunno. The way things have been changing, I see it being changed eventually.

Well, er, the logo on the side of the helmet is a dead giveaway. It ain't potatoes.

As there aren't enough Native Americans to amount to a really serious protest, the name won't change. I do wonder, though, how Danny would feel if the name were a Jewish American smear.

If they changed it, I would understand. But, I've seen reports on this and some Native Americans like the team names.  Maybe it depends on how accurately the tribe is portryed. I also have no idea on what the splits are on this. I dont know if it is 50/50.

Is it any different than a team name like Trojans and Spartans?  Instead of looking at the name as simply a race or heritage, if you look at it as a proud warrior tradition, it appears to be OK.   Where does Celtics fit in here? Is this an accurate representation?

I guess at the least, teams should be named ofter a specific tribe, as opposed to a general derogatory term

I doubt the Celtics or Fightin' Irish would mind: those names were picked to reflect the nationalities of the city/school they represent. It would be like a high school on an Indian Reservation calling themselves The Chiefs.

Some Native Americans care, some don't, but Redskins is interpreted by some as a very negative, dehumanizing term.

And speaking as an Irish American, that p[icture is not a bad representation, except they left the beer out. :)
