^ thats intense! your post was made at 11:11:11. you probably planned it.  ;)

Yeah I synchronized hitting enter with my wristwatch :?

MASN is replaying last night's Caribbean World Series game between Dominicana 1 (Cibaenas) and Mexico. (Amezaga just scored from 2nd on a 2-run sac fly :?) At 3pm Dominicana 2 (Licey, that's the team Belliard is on) will face Mexico that will take me right to the Super Bowl. Later tonight Dominicana 1 will face Venezuela.

Pimp Jokes and "I must attack AZ" commentary aside...

Belliard is a very solid 2nd Baseman, and we could be much worse off than having him as a starter.

he hits for a decent average, gets on base at a decent clip, plays solid defense, has 10-15 HR power.  anyone who thinks his offensive stats from last year are a "fluke" hasn't followed his career, or even looked at a stats page.

he's not a top or middle of the order guy, he's more of a 7th hitter.  he isn't a superstar, but he isn't a liability at the plate, and he won't hurt you in the field, for the most part.  he's a solid role-player type piece for a team to have.

I don't see why so many people seem to have a problem with him, other than the fact that AZ likes him, so that makes it cool to not like Belliard.

like I said, we could do much worse for starting 2nd Basemen.

Props to MASN for televising some of these games.  I'm about to watch the game at 3.  They are showing a game live tonight at 7 as well.

I don't think people have much of a problem with him as a stopgap type player (which is all he is). The thing is that AZ makes outrageous claims about Belliard being the best 2B in baseball (even though he seems to love Cano also) and he bases that on stupid and somewhat gay reasons. Maybe we can do worse but we can certainly do better.

Also, the games are being aired on ESPN Deportes in case nospin would like to watch them on that channel.

 Did anyone else catch a glimpse of Tony Batista playing for Dominicana 1? No joke, he looked about as big as Dmitri Young

ya, i'm watching the licey game right now. if it wasn't for belly playing for licey i probably wouldn't be watching seeing as majority of the players are lackluster to say the least in comparison to the big leagues.

Is Belly in the lineup?

Edit: Yes he is.  Why is he batting 7th?

first of all, i don't love cano. i only mentioned him once because he's the only 2b i would consider in comparison to belly. i'll take belly > cano, utley, phillips, etc.

secondly, i base my claims about belly being the 2b in baseball because i think he is the uncontested best defensive 2b in baseball and is no slouch at the plate. he packs a lot of punch for being 5'8" and is one of the most reliable and consistent hitters on the team. that fact that he is a p.i.m.p. is just icing on the cake.

thirdly, i think belly is gonna have a stellar season now that he will be the everyday starter. this season is setting up perfectly for him to have a career yr. i think he will hover around .300 again, hit 15 homers, and 70+ rbis.

it's a shame that i have only been able to truly witness belly briefly. i knew of him before, but i was unaware of how much of a pimp he really was. hopefully he can finish his career as a national.

'll take belly >  utley,

not even close. Belliard may be a Pimp, and a pretty solid second baseman, but he isn't even close to being on the same level as Chase Utley.

i think belly prefers to hit near the bottom of the order. especially in a league like this, i think he's just looking to have some fun, get some reps, and avoid any pressure that he would have if he batted at the top of the order.

belliard > every 2b in baseball. he'll show how underrated he is this yr as an everyday starter for a full season.

yeah...I'm defending Belliard. not you. you are a class-A fanboy.

Belliard is a solid 2B. but there are at least 10 2B I'd prefer over him.

and this isn't the first year that Belliard has been an everyday starter. he's been in the majors for 10 years now.

He's actually hitting 8th.

Except they called him the captain of the team in the Spanish broadcast and acknowledged that his defense is far from being stellar.

Yeah I heard that. Ronnie was very efficient at 2B last year.  He got to a lot of balls and his throws were generally right on.  He might have sucked before last year but with us he was fine.  Same with Wily Mo.  Everyone says he sucks in the OF but from what we saw from him he was serviceable in the OF.  I don't think he made any errors.

They actually replayed the game from last night at noon today and will be showing both games today. Stay tuned to that station nospin because they will broadcast all the games in this series.

I like Belliard. He gave us a solid year in '07 but I won't pump him up or pimp him up like AZ does because it's not realistic. It reminds me of the way Schneider and others are pumped up around here. :?

what do you not understand, he's not even trying out there. energy wise, he's probably going at 75%.

check out the belly highlight video i posted, that's during the actual mlb season when he's going 100%.

Is Belliard playing on the dirt or on the grass?
