I just watched Love and Other Drugs yesterday. Good god is Hathaway insanely hot in that film.
I also watched Middle Men, a story about a guy who is the CEO of a credit card payment company for pictures sites in the dot com boom. Even though it's a fictionalized account of a jackass who funded the movie completely, that doesn't take away from the fact it's an insanely good film. Luke Wilson is lead. Apparently it was an indy film, bought up... It tested incredibly well, and then had a spectacular box office failure. I can only guess it's because the synopsis, a CEO of a credit card payment company for pictures sites, sounds as boring as hell, but it is a top notch film.
I also finally got around to watch The Passion of Joan of Arc, 1927, a few days ago. I'm fairly into silent films, so since that's not many folks cup of tea, probably better left alone. But it was a truly masterful film. Both the direction, using camera angles and techniques that are still somewhat revolutionary, to the insane acting of Falconetti as Joan, to the fact the director demanded no make up be used, in a silent film when they usually caked it on... It was one of the best, most moving films I've ever seen. I'd put off watching it despite my interest in silents since people said it was either the most boring film you'll ever watch or the best, and I cannot understand the former. If ever the opportunity arises, watch it.
