« Topic Start: September 07, 2005, 07:03:26 PM »
Marlins (73-65)

Dontrelle Willis, LHP (19-8, 2.55)

Washington Nationals (72-67)

John Halama, LHP (1-3, 5.80)

Scouting Report:
Now that the D-Train has set a franchise record with 19 victories, the 23-year-old left-hander will seek to become the first Marlins pitcher to win 20. Barely missing his seventh complete game of the season, Willis worked 8 1/3 innings in his last start, beating the Mets, 4-2. The left-hander has won four straight starts. With 194 1/3 innings pitched, he is closing in on his first 200-inning season. He tossed 197 innings last year.

Halama will face the Marlins for the third time in his career. Halama hopes to rebound from his last start. He gave up six runs in three innings against the Phillies last Friday. With the score tied at 1, the Phillies scored five runs in the top of the third, highlighted by a grand slam by David Bell. Manager Frank Robinson said the five-run inning took the Nationals out of the ballgame.

That's yesterday's lineup, Chief, unless Rasner's stuff was so good they want to use him another day.   :D

That's gotta be some kind of record

And I just got done reading the thread about not needing long innings from our 4/5 starting pitching

I'd have to say that getting out of that inning with only 1 run given up is reason to be optimistic.

And I'd have to say that facing a Dontrelle Willis on the hunt for no. 20 is reason to pessimistic.

Maybe, but remember we are the worst against mediocre pitchers, so we should be able to take him

Who does that Zimmerman kid think he is? Doesn't he know that it's disrespectful to his elders for him to be shining like this? How does he think that makes Guz feel?

Maybe - hopefully, rather - he feels like retiring?

The hope is rather that Frank Robinson thinks of retiring Guzman.

Hmm, so for our 21 year old prospect who is playing out of position has the only hit, while on the other hand even their pitcher can get a double!! Ha, this game was over as soon as they score the first run. But cheer up therez tomorrows game and the first two games of the Atlanta Series to look forward to!! Hopefully, this game along with yesterdayz game will put pressure on FR and Jim Bowden to do something about our starting rotation

Maybe because it seems just when you think the Nats are completely out of the playoff picture, they give you false hope in the form of a few outstanding wins, and win you start to believe again they go out of their ways to prove that they really cant hit
