The Philadelphia ace was rusty in his first start on Tuesday after missing more than a
month with a strained left elbow. Hamels allowed three runs on five hits in three innings
in his return from the disabled list. He struck out two batters and walked one and tossed
54 pitches, with 35 going for strikes. He should be better against Washington.
Hanrahan has another poor outing as the Mets took a 4-0 lead in the top of the first
inning on Tuesday night. It marked the second game in a row the Nationals were down
by that many runs in the first inning. Hanrahan pitched just three innings and gave up
five runs on seven hits.
