maybe we struck a deal with the phillies, we lay down for them for 3 games in exchange for them to lay down for us on sunday for our last game in rfk.

Bergmann is tha best we have curently, but at full health and full potential you already know who tha ace is.

I can only blame Shawn, with qualifications, for this outing because I don't know whether his stuff was bad or he couldn't get strikes called.

At the beginning of the game, it was obvious that Shawn wasn't going to have a good night because of the "strike zone" of Larry Poncino.  If Hill can't get low strikes, he can''t be successful.  And these were actual strikes not balls that could be called strikes.

The homeplate umpire can't have this much latitude in deciding what the strike zone is.

Even if they try to lay down on Sunday we will still LOSE because yep, Joel Walkrahan is pitching.  Even if the Phillies try to lay down he'll keep walking them and putting them on base.  Sunday's game is going to be UG-LY just like today's game and tomorrow's.

I'm too afraid to use that term ever again after the JP fiasco w/ it!

And that's the difference between Berg & Hill that Sutton keeps talking about.  He says that when Hill gets in a jam, he gets too frustrated and can't pitch out of it.  And he also says that Berg can have a bad few pitches and mentally get beyond it and pick up w/ some good pitches.  He doesn't let it defeat him.  If that's accurate, then I think Berg is the best pitcher we have and not Hill.

Correction. Hill is by far the best pitcher we have right now until some of our young arms develop. Bergmann is not even in the same conversation with Hill irrespective of this bad outing and some average ones recently.

BUT IF Sutton is right, then Berg is the best we will have, short of bringing in new pitchers.

The phillies have no issue hitting them.

If he's gonna keep getting flustered and not able to pull himself together and pitch out of it, then he's not a good pitcher.

Hill is the best on the staff. I'm sure Sutton and Carpenter would say the same thing without even thinking about it.

Sutton hasn't even come close to suggesting that Bergmann is better than Hill or that he's the best we have. Not even close.

But that's what's so interesting.  They haven't been saying that.

Sorries Phillies...

If the glove fit, you can't acquit

Wily Mo hit by pitch, according to the hand in his batting glove.

First of all, I've seen Bergmann get rocked numerous times. I have also seen Hill be consistently above average. There is no contest and using Sutton to make your point will not change that. Like sportsfan said, I too am certain Sutton would tell you that Hill is the better of the 2.
