Another stupid sportswriter

Now this isn't a typo...just horrid knowledge of the game...

The last two starts for Sheets help to illustrate his true importance to a somewhat untested Brewers rotation. Since returning from the disabled list Aug. 29, Sheets has drawn his turn against Carlos Zambrano and Roy Oswalt -- the respective aces for the Cubs and Astros.

Whereas the pressure might be felt by a younger hurler to match the other team's ace -- even at this late stage of the season -- it's the exact job Sheets was signed to do with the Brewers.

"It feels like we picked up a big free agent for the run here," Milwaukee outfielder Geoff Jenkins said. "Every team has got injuries. It's one thing to lose a position player, or this or that. When it's your ace, that's a big deal. It's obviously a huge push for us to get him back.

This writer obviously didn't know much at all about Ben Sheets, a career Brewer, and took Geoff Jenkins' quote literally.  What an idiot.

HAVING worked for 45 years at the AP and the Post I can tell you from direct contact with sports writers that 95 percent of them are idiots that could not make it in the regular news beat. Not saying much either for some writers on the regular beat.
