Game Time: 1:05 PM
Cal Eldred, RHP (1-0, 2.22)For a second consecutive day, Mark Mulder is a scratch for his scheduled start. In his place, veteran Cal Eldred takes the ball for the Cardinals. The veteran is no stranger to a starting assignment, having logged 191 over his Major League career, which began in 1991 with the Brewers. But this will be his first start since 2001, when he was a member of the White Sox.
John Halama, LHP (1-1, 5.33)Halama makes just his second start of the season in place of Tony Armas Jr. In his last start, Halama -- then with the Red Sox -- allowed two runs on four hits over five innings to pick up a win over the Tigers on May 3. In his last outing, Aug. 23 against the Reds, he allowed one hit and no runs in two innings.
