swings on the first pitch with a new pitcher? I'm hallucinating right?? He didn't just do that?

I think I prefer Jimenez.

I hate to do it because it was my own post but what the hell: QFT

You didn't need a HR, for cripes sake!  It's not the 9th inning! We just needed a hit. Was Brian Schneider the player most likely to get a hit?

I would have trust D'Angelo more to get a hit!!!

yep, Jimenez should have hit although Schneider shouldn't have swung at the first pitch... Flores has our only RBI and had a nice 0-2 single to right before Brian's AB.  Schneider comes in the game and GIDP on the first freaking pitch.  Flores should start next year.

Brian's been swinging pretty well - so I don't really have a problem with the move - but swinging at the first pitch ... just awful

I don't know that I agree on the span of time but it was a bad decision nevertheless.

We have to admit there is irony in this statement.

Flores should start next year.

I don't think that will happen until 2009.

sigh.. I wish Byrnes wouldn't have already signed with Arizona.  He would be a perfect fit for us.  We absolutely HAVE to sign Aaron Rowand in the offseason though.  I don't care how much money it costs.  Get it done, Stan.

I think this might be the luckiest team the Nationals have played this year.

I would not be opposed to that but they have to sign Dunn also to complete our lineup.

Arizona is very, very lucky that's why I think they won't make it far into the playoffs.  I'll root hard for 'em but we'll see..

Arizona is playing better than any team in baseball since the break - they have won 18 of their last 20 - that doesn't happen by luck ... they are opportunistic - that's what good teams do - take advantage of their opportunities ...

Not to mention that Byrnes and Jackson seem to make things happen by sheer force of will.

But they're not particularly talented, especially offensive.  Offensively, they're not much better than the Nationals.  A lot of things have, conveniently, gone right for them since the All-Star break.
