That ball was hit so hard they may have been able to turn a double play!

Thanks Ray King, you fat piece of ****!  You too Chad, how many times can you rip this team's heart out?  With a competent closer we would be within 5 games of .500.  Oh well, all of the hardwork they accomplished on the homestand will be quickly erased by an 0-7 roadtrip.

edit: Nice pitching Lannan and great clutch HR Dmitri.  The rest of the team punted the game.

Cordero will become the first official "Root for the Laundry" Nationals player.

Let's see what he spoiled this evening:

*Six-game winning streak- check
*Lannan's gutty performance - check
*2 great innings of middle relief - check
*Meat's clutch homer - check
*A good night's sleep for me - check
*A shot at 4th place - check

Don't want to go into what-ifs, but if schneider makes a good throw to first, the infield is back and Belliard catches that.

bases loaded, no out - the game is over.  We were lucky to get 2 grounders

Don't know about that... Belly was already playing on the grass.

Well actually if the double play is made, Winn is walked and then the IF plays back, and so does the OF.

I truthfully think we should still be playing baseball right now. King clearly struck out Davis, and then Davis gets hit by a pitch he made no attempt to get out of the way of. He practically was hovering around the center of the plate. Should have been a called strike 3 and out #1. Then, Ayala gets the force out at home and Schneider has to change his throw because Omar is in the base path which results in a poor throw. So, that should have been a DP and 3 outs.

I have a question - isn't the runner automatically out if he runs INSIDE fair ground like the runner did when Schneider hit him with his throw?

That's exactly how I saw it too - Davis actually leaned into that pitch and the replay shows it hit his bat - Omar was clearly in the basepath ... not that I think it would matter ultimately - our guys must have been completely gassed  - but still - overall, this game was just officiated horribly

At least every bad feeling I had in the early going was confirmed - damn it Chad!
