Fogg attacked the bottom of the strike zone, striking out five and pitching seven strong innings to earn the win over the Pirates at PNC Park. Fogg has pitched well at RFK Stadium, going 1-1 with a 1.50 ERA in two starts.

Redding lasted seven innings and gave up three runs on seven hits against the Astros on Tuesday. It was the second straight quality outing since he was called up from Triple-A Columbus on July 3. Redding made just two mistakes in the game. In the third inning, Carlos Lee hit a two-run home run to give Houston a 2-1 lead. And with the game tied at 2, the game-winning run was scored in the top of the fifth inning, when Hunter Pence took a 2-2 curve ball and hit it over the left-field fence to make it a 3-2 game. Redding was surprised that Pence was able to hit the pitch because it came close to hitting the dirt in front of the plate.

I can imagine Redding being our #5 starter for the remainder of the year, even when most of our guys are healthy.

I say sign him for a modest deal next year. his upside seems to finally be surfacing.

Plus his goatee is sweet.

I'm not liking this lineup today but we'll see.. and Fogg gets another easy inning.  Fogg is not good by any means

This lineup makes you think that Manny has decided that 4-3 is sufficient on this homestand.

That means the no-hitter is broken up.  When you start so many backups, getting a hit is a BIG deal.

Edit:  And now the one-hitter is broken up!  Good job, Felipe.

Or maybe not. Not sure what we could get for Langerhans, Batista or Fick.

and Jimenez lets one fall in right over his head... him starting pisses me off. Belliard makes that play with his eyes closed

Awww, nice effort Flores, and a great play.  That was Redding's fault.

The fact that tomorrow is an off day, makes this lineup even worse. Why sit so many players when there's no game tomorrow?

Add to that, yesterday's game was at 4pm, not 7 pm, so they've had more rest than usual.  It could be that a trade is close to being made, and they don't want the player(s) injured during the game to kill it.
