
Perhaps not - there's been much written about the valuation of US sports teams, which demonstrates that on-field/court/rink perfomance bears little, or no, relationship to value. They've become 'trophy' purchases - 'look at me - I can afford to buy a sports franchise'. GIven DC's place as the center of political power and influence (some would argue, therefore, that it is the center of
US power) some-one might be tempted.
