Padres are more popular than the nats. Maybe if the Lerners cared enough to develop a fanbase instead of an endless rebuild
Based on what? Attendance? The Nats had the lowest attendance they'd had in a decade going into that sale in April of 2022. Since then, attendance has increased by almost 50%.
Too bad attendance ultimately doesn't mean much. The Rays were estimated to be worth about 1.25 billion in 2024. Padres were estimated to be worth 1.78-2.1 billion. Angels were estimated at 2.7 billion. Only the Padres have a decent fan base. All three of those teams have been sold for way more than those valuations, with the Rays coming in the "cheapest" at a 30+% growth. MLB team valuations are shooting up because MLB is working to stabilize streaming revenue and the owners are expecting to get some sort of salary cap in the next CBA.
