I was about to ask if anyone doubts that Jacob Young is a genuine major leaguer. But that was a terrible bunt.
was that JY on his own trying for a hit? I think it was a called sacrifice, but could be wrong

Ever see the home plate outline in Howard Hospital?

Before the 1950s, the Nats were a running team. Then they became a home-run team, as Calvin Griffith persuaded Clark, The Old Fox, to move the third base line from 405 feet until, by 1957, Griffith Stadium had that short porch in LF or only 350 feet.

He's usually fundamentally sound, but hitting not his strong suit.
IDK. I think he's been about as hot as any Nat since the ASB, other than Chappy

Right, Kevin. Tag up on a foul pop. You can score.

Best ballpark ever, at least for fans in the grandstands to watch the game.

Sorting by wRC+, there's Chappy at 202, Mead at 162, then CJ and Young tied  at 141. Nobody still  with the team close (Garcia 134). Pinckney at 115 is next.

He's got that swing going pretty good right now.  Damn good game for Keibert.

Thank you to friends old and new who participated by viewing or posting comments.
With the :w: posted, we honor the memory of our friend Old Chelsea with the traditional post that tracks the Nats wins to date, in Anglophile style.

THE RACING PRECEDENTS: Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 63rd win, each season:

2017 - 31st July (104th match of season)
2016 - 2nd August (107th match)
2012 - 3rd August (105th match)
2014 - 9th August (115th match)
2019 - 12th August (118th match)
2005 - 15th August (118th match)
2018 - 21st August (126th match)
2013 - 22nd August (127th match)
2015 - 25th August (124th match)
2026 - 27th August (136th match)
2011 - 30th August (133rd match)
2007 - 5th September (140th match)
2023 - 6th September (140th match)
2024 - 7th September (141st match)
2006 - 12th September (145th match)
2025 - 20th September (155th match)
2010 - 21st September (151st match)
2021 - 22nd September (152nd match)

---
2022- finished 55-107 (.340)
2009 - finished 59-103 (.364)
2008 - finished 59-102 (.366)
2020 - finished 26-34 (.433)

This win ties the win total of the 1971 Senators, the last season of the second DC MLB franchise. It was an abbreviated season (159 games), so the team went 63-96.

Milestones over the next 26 games:
2021 - 65 wins
2025 - 66 wins
2004 (last Expos) - 67 wins
2010 - 69 wins (niiiice!)
2006, 2023, 2024 - 71 wins
2007 - 73 wins.

To match 2007, the the 2026 Nats need to go 10-16.
