what I had expected to see  was Waldron shaky and scored upon, Dion to come in and throw effective long relief, and Perales held back until Kent's next start so he could pick him up when he got into trouble. Surprised how this one worked out.

They traded away nearly 50 homeruns and over 100 RBIs. There's no way anybody expected us to sustain this success by removing that from our lineup? We were only winning because of the offense and with that gone we have nothing. They essentially forfeited the season to get a couple RP prospects.

Forfeited? Nats weren’t winning anything this year. If you don’t want your FO to sell, don’t lose a bunch of games going into the deadline. Not saying that they wouldn’t have sold anyway, but the pre deadline play just made it easier.

as good as Wood is, I think we underestimate his impact. We looks at the HRs but the OBP and speed contributed so much to his  run scoring. We've gotten 8 HRs in August from Chappy / Abi, so the backfill for Garcia has been OK. Mead had an incredible July, best month of the season, so House is a step back, too. Mead might have been survivable, but Mead plus Wood killed run scoring.
