Given his draft position, defensive home at first base, and swing-and-miss concerns, Walsh most realistically projects as a power-first corner bat with an uphill climb to reach a consistent major-league role. If the contact rate improves to fringe-average and he sustains his on-base gains, he could reach an up-and-down role as a left-handed bench bat or matchup first baseman. More likely he settles as organizational depth or a quad-A type who can provide power in the upper minors and occasional big-league looks. The narrow defensive profile puts most of the burden on his ability to translate above-average raw power into consistent game production against better arms.
