People here are completely delusional. If someone had said in March that the Nats were going to turn Foster Griffin, Luis Garcia, and Curtis Mead into 9 players, all with years of control, some major league ready, an at least three of whom immediately slot into our top 30 prospects, you would have tried to have them committed.
Now everyone is going nuts saying that Toboni is getting fleeced. 1) How do we have any idea how this trade is going to turn out. There are people here who thought we lost the Soto trade when it happened. Or at least that it was a toss up. 2) what on earth did you expect for these guys. Thinking you’re going to get a teams top ten prospect for a two month rental of Foster Griffin, means you don’t understand modern baseball.
This team isn’t going to win in the near or long term future. The reason is the pitching. The team went out and got some pitching. You’re going to need volume to fill out the farm system becasue nobody on this roster other than Wood and Abrams is bringing anyone’s stud prospects.
I’ve got many, many issues with how this team is run. I probably would have kept Mead, but it wasn’t egregious to trade him. But among the things I think the front office has done wrong, handling of the 2026 deadline is pretty low on the list.
