The Nationals are getting four players back from the Guardians in the Foster Griffin trade, per source.

Nusbaum saying it's another four player return. Hopefully better than the last one.

If both the Astros and the Guardians were in on Griffin hopefully that yields a bigger return.

Might be worse than the Garcia trade from what I'm seeing.

Edit: It is.

We literally have no clue how this trade or Garcia trade will play out.

How much do you expect Cleveland to give up for a 30 year old rental?

The fact Toboni could not get one Top 10 team prospect from either trade is a fireable offense.

Dion looks like a high-spin but lower velo (91) rising fastball lefty, will be one of our better relievers. got the 20 inches of induced vertical break.

Mitchell - undersized OF with a good BB rate
Hartle - 6'5 low arm slot lefty that doesn't throw hard
Virguez - oft-injured but 101 mph 2 seamer

For two months of a guy that was in Japan last year? Ok.

You mean a guy who was an All-star and recently set a franchise record.

The second half is completely irrelevant.

The prospect rankings aren't impressive and Cleveland is a pretty smart org. Clearly went quantity here, so I hope one hits!

lol
Hartle 40 FV
Mitchell, Virguez 35+

Dion is an MLB lefty. I think he slots in as our top lefty in the bullpen. 29.4 K%, 3.5 BB%, but homer prone (18.2 HR/FB%). Sub 4 FIP even with the high homer rate, ERA in the 4.5s.

Feel unimpressive. In it defense, the NY Times threw out a comment I did not know that apparently Griffin's peripherals are less impressive than his ERA. Which tells me the Nationals are betting that Griffin, like Mead and Garcia, is in the midst of an unsustainable hot streak.

The starting pitching returns have been  so maybe this is as good as it gets

Like any trade, we'll need some time to evaluate this. It does appear with trade after trade our front office thinks the farm system was comically thin (I agree!) and they'd rather more lottery tickets than fewer pieces, even if better pedigrees.

Casey Mize, better rental than Griffin (basically same stats as Skubal) got a 45+ FV prospect (#2 from SDP, terrible farm system) Kash Mayfield
