Traditional and analytics would say if you have a pocket of lefties, go to Poulin not Krook. I think that would have been the 2d or 3d option, behind sticking with Beeter ir or going to Ribalta. Beeter was already in the game. You don’t know how Sat & Sunday will be. You know you have a lead now. You go in today, ride some weird decisions tomorrow if you have to, then these guys can pitch Sunday

The 1 batter stuff for Beeter doesn't work. You aren't going to throw him 3 days in a row this series. He's in, ride him. Like Boone road Bednar. You end up needing to close 3 games, then, for one, you're lucky, and for another, deal with it Sunday.

If Poulin opens tomorrow before Mikolas, and they saved him to do that, that's absurd. Pitch Poulin in the 9th, throw Krook to open tomorrow. You have 9 innings to make up for anything given up in the top of the 1st. You have no margin for error in the 9th in a 1 run game

I wish they did use analytics. Then they wouldn't buy into the pure righty lefty matchups. That is what the old dinosaur managers believed. Analytics is supposed to use objective data. There is no way there was any data that pointed to using garbage relievers like Krook and Lawrence. They are trash. It was one thing when Frank Robinson would go righty lefty because he was old school. At least he would put a real pitcher on the mound, even if objective data showed it wasn't the best idea. But to grab trash out of the dumpster and put it on the major league mound in a save situation is ludicrous.
