As ever, great opening JCA...

Here's a little gem I almost missed, from yesterday's game, courtesy of the Orioles' booth crew...'Trevor Rogers looks like Trevor Rogers - he is Trevor Rogers...'  Hmm - I suspect he might just be Trevor Rogers...  ;)

Both managers leaning heavily into platoons tonight in their lineups.

Mead, Young sit in favor of Tena and Vivas.  Mead vs RHP in June is just a .577 OPS, Young .614, Vivas .813. Tena for season .619 (just 16 PAs in June). Tempting to have kept Young in and have Vivas play 3rd.

Young has had some success vs  lefties this year (.625 OPS), but walks a lot (10.6%), Ks very few (11.8%), relies on BABIP  (.213), and gets fewer GB than vs righties.

Griffin has  dominated lefties (.559 OPS) while producing average numbers vs  righties (.714 OPS), so it's understandable pushing the platoon.

Rooting for England to draw or better.

Edit: win is better

Thanks. Getting off topic, for here, but a barely deserved win for the GP. Senegal to come...

A question. On the tv broadcast the box in the corner showing the score, etc shows the pitch type pretty much immediately. I can maybe see calling a curve, but how in the world can it recognize a splitter, four-seamer, slider and so on so quickly?

Believe it or not, they can pick up the spin and the movement on the cameras automatically.

So Vivas is useful. Nats take a 1-run lead. But why is Tena on the team?

52 through 2. Could have been 40 and a lead.

Wood seems to be mired in one of those prolonged slumps. His at bats this week have been non competitive.

Why does Butera insist on batting Tena/Chaparro third?

Jose Tena experience has to be near the end. JY should be in cf and wood dh tonight. Young hit this guy at Nats Park. His ops v righties is the same as tena.if Tena can't hit rhp, he's no use

I can get Chappy, but there's no argument for Tena.

Most prolific offense in baseball = manager gets to do whatever he wants with the lineup
