Against Alvarez, KC loads up with Righties. Lane Thomas, former Nats RF, leads off. #4-#7 is a righty pocket, so expect righty relievers being used there.

Nats go with Nunez, Mead, and Young, with Tena and Vivas on the bench.

Spence is getting his 1st start this year, but has thrown 240 innings since 2024. Career ERA of 4.91. Career 18.6 K%, 7.2 BB%. Was with the Athletics the past 2 years. 5 pitch pitcher, with cutter and sinker close to 60% and slider about 20%.

Alvarez has a 14.6% K%-BB%. BB% is a little high: 10.7%. Hurt by BABIP (.344). 0.74 HR/9 with a 14.3 HR/FB% is explained by a 56.1 GB% (That's good). Could really use infield D, which explains Nunez.
