Let's see if it makes it to the next homestand. If the Nats are contending, then it might.

I’m in favor if it’s organic and the teams try and stop it.

So, this got brought up during the WBC. Look how loud and into the game the fans are. And the thing is, yea, you can do that for one game. MLB is 162. Football is less than 20. Premiere Leage is 38 games a season. The Domincan League plays around 50.

My point is that baseball isn't conducive to that amount of effort from fans game in and game out. So, break it out for playoffs? Hell yea. Break it out for big rivalry series? Sure. But expecting that kind of effort from fans on Thursday night in August when they're playing the Rangers? Eh, probably not.

Yankee Stadium has had the Bleacher Creatures since the late '90s. Anything that gets Nationals Park alive is good. Won't last, but I hate when the 7-Line Army drowns out Nats fans.

I wasn't sure what to think at first, seems very misogynistic to have a male only fan group. But loud noise from the crowd as opposed to the team drowning out everything with their loudspeakers is a good thing. This is the same bunch doing the beer snake at Defenders games. Might be the same group that made a mess with protein spills all over Navy Yard on Saturday.

In works in the NPB and KBO. Probably because it’s ingrained in the culture of the game. Here in the US, proper decorum i.e. act like you’re at a funeral is our cultural heritage.

For baseball, not a funeral. But it's a leisurely past time in the US

As previously addressed in the GDT, there is nothing preventing women from joining

I'm solidly in the meh camp...

It's not as stoopid as the beer snake, but like Slate says...it's not sustainable...which is probably just as well...

I was there on Saturday.  It was fine.  They were loud and boosted the energy.  Seems a fair trade for the mild douche factor.

Some folks might have an issue with the number of F words in their chants.  I don't care.

It will be go on until they inevitably do something stupid that interferes with another guest’s enjoyment of the game and someone complains. Unless something has changed recently, the ball club seems to have a zero tolerance policy toward foul language, sitting in seats that someone else paid for, fights, etc.

I'm fine with it. You pay for a ticket, go have harmless fun

On other hand, I am absolute sick of seeing it on social media at every stadium. It's happened enough times in enough sports that I'm really fine not seeing it at a random stadium.

The interesting moment will be when there's a series where you have two sizeable 'Tarps' groups in the same ballpark... ;)

Having had a lifetime of the soccer environment, 'Tarps' seems relatively mild, for now. My concern would be if it becomes more aggressive and intimidatory, including to other home fans. Not for me. (perhaps we could get the travelling Millwall support to come over, to show them how it's done?...).

Just show them a millwall-Chelsea match from the 80s, with all the fighting amongst the rival fans.

Indeed. When hoolie culture started, in the '70's, it was 'just youngsters letting off steam', but soon developed into organized 'firms' and the dark times of the late '70's and '80's. The issue with all 'boisterous' groups is when do they start being a disincentive for ordinary fans to attend games.

I figured that the beer snake crowd were guys that used to follow the United before they went, well, you know.
