Two games below .500. Arizona is not that strong, and I haven't seen much of the Cubs. Nats are better than Cardinals. We will see the Padres soon enough. Marlins? The Nats ought to beat the Marlins, although they don't.

Cubs have been playing well for a couple of months. they are top wild card by 6 games. This series starting Tuesday will be a nice test. If we somehow can take 2 of 3, we'd still need the Phillies or DBacks to falter and no one else to get hot.

Toboni this morning: "I think a few of these teams in the Wild Card race are gonna be hopefully falling. If we take care of our business, I think we have a chance to hop over them. So we just need to survive the next few weeks without [James Wood], and go from there."

At this point, Toboni is just bullcraping in the hopes of keeping interest in the team.

They have no shot at making the playoffs. As soon as he traded Mead for Early, the playoff hunt was over.

My previous post about the season being over and about being against putting up political signs at Nationals Park was removed.
Here is my second attempt:
The season is over.
Putting up political signs at Nationals Park should not be permitted.

right, but your previous post discussed particular political views that you objected to, labeling the  fan that espoused those  views "a troll," and incorrectly  commented that the fan's article  of clothing was "new" and "obnoxious." The fan in question has had a similar article of clothing before over several years. Having talked to others and been at games, I've seen other political articles of clothing with various viewpoints. Wearing articles of clothing that push a political or  religious viewpoint just is pretty common in society.  It's not, as you characterize is, a sign or an "obnoxious, oversize billboard."

The Clubhouse is a politics-free zone. There's a section for discussion of politics in which there's  a thread on politics at athletic events & players/ teams expressing views on this point.

This is  one of the few things we try to draw a hard line, and we appreciate members who flag these posts.

I don't know what your political angle is, but even I avoid politics here. And I grew up in DC in the 1950s, among the first kindergarten class to begin DC Public Schools when it had been de-segregated. I lived through "maximum resistance" to integration, over in Virginia, where my dad had been born, and we moved to PG County when Maryland still had a "local option" for segregation. My dad's company, PEPCO, used to have its summer picnic at Chesapeake Beach, the segregated Chesapeake Beach, until PEPCO hired enough black emplyees to make the company uncomfortable taking us there. I remember Glen Echo, which said that "blackness" might rub off in the big swimming pool. And I was bused from Lewisdale to Mount Rainer JHS, when North Brentwood kids were bused around to Fairmount Heights right through our senior year at Northwestern HS, 1965-66. Then, the county was forced to make honest geographic boundaries to schools.

Hence, I grew up with the Civil Rights Movement all around, and I learned.

Yet I will not post about politics except in the "Politics" section, an "opt-in" in the Community sub-board. And you, "63", can do the same.

Meanwhile, I cheer hard every time the Nats win. I hope for a .500 season, as I did in 1959 and 1960, and again in 1968. Although I had gone away to college , I still plunked down an extra nickel to read the Post, rather than the Chicago Sun Times, just to read Shirley Povich and to marvel. And in 2011, it was like magic to watch a respectable Nats team. The daughter, red-headed Rachel who has met everyone at WNFF M&G, got us tickets to 2019 WS Game 5. Never imagined my childhood team, the team of Bob Porterfield a Mickey Vernon and Roy Sievers, going to the World Series. But then...

It has been nauseating to watch loser after loser since 2019. Let them finsih a game above .500, and I am happy. And delirious if the Lerners sell our team.

Nats are 7.5 games out of  the last 2 WC spot with 5 teams plus the Phiiiies and Padres ahead of them. The Nats have slipped behind the Reds. There's 36 games left.

At this point, I'd be against any desperate roster management moves like calling up King or Grable to try for the WC. All call-ups should be managed for for finding an advantage for 2027 or beyond.

I don't believe anyone should be called up unless they are already on the 40 man and will be ineligble ( I'm not 100% sure what the rule is) to play due to the shut down. They need to get their reps in the minors. What we are witnessing now and for the remaining games is ST 2.0 and seeing who plays where and when for next season if there is one.
