A long way from .500 now. Is Wood hurt?

If James Wood is out, maybe throw this thread on lock until we have a win streak?

Eh, I think we can lock it now. The chase is over.

Just need to win 12 games so I can collect on my over bet for the season.

12-36 seems on target

aren't we also back in the lottery for the 2027 draft if we tank?

Yes.

I kinda think Toboni was hoping for some tank. If CJ could field as well as Zach Neto, he would have dealt him to the Red Sox for a haul. That would have made it easy to tank the last two months of the season.

one game (a loss) after the trade deadline, your Garcia/Mead/Griffin-less Nats are in a 6 game losing streak that pulled the team from 2 over .500 to 4 under:

Cubs     64-49   4.0
DBacks  60-53   -.-
Phillies   60-53  -.-
================
Padres   58-53   -1.0
Marlins  58-53  - 1.0
Pirates   57-57  -3.5
Cards    56-57   -4.0
Nats      55-59  -5.5
Reds     53-58   -6.0

No more record postings until the Nats are within 3 of the wild card.  It's pull the plug time. FG odds of making the playoffs down to 1.1%. we peaked at 10.2% on 7/25 and were still over 10% on 7/27.

in the 12 games since the Mead trade, the Nats have been outscored 47-61. 20 of those runs were in two games (wins), and 8 were in their other win. In their 9 losses, the Nats have been outscored 19-44.

Needed the right-handed bat to balance out the lefties.

Really do not understand the need to press on that trade.

Ignore the red flags on a Red Sox pitcher you really, really used to like. It's Perales all over again. This one should work out longer terms, but it killed the run production.

I didn't necessarily like the Mead trade but I understood it..

We weren't going anywhere this year...maybe this opens some eyes even further on what we'll need for a balanced team so that we don't suck when baseball returns after this season...whenever that is...
