It's funny, but they sent out an SPH renewal notice earlier in the week and they did not mention playoff ticket priority or ask that we put money down for playoff ticket straps. Either no authorization from mlb or the new folks hadn't planned on it being a contingency this year.

So interesting turn of events. The Phillies now have the last WC spot. There are also three teams between us and them, despite the Nats being 2 games back. Phillies play Baltimore, who is playing well. If we can split the 4 game series with the Braves, we have an outside chance still.

Go for the WC, the current measure of a respectable season. The team does not have three superior starters, starters like Jordan Zimmermann, Stephen Strasburg, Max Scherzer, plus Fister, Gio, or that year of Corbin. That is a WS pitching staff. OK, but win enough to take a step forward.

The Nats have enough minor league talent to return a good reliever. Maybe not another team's closer, but their 8th inning guy. Right now, Andrew Pinckney is pretty good, but stuck behind the four OF in the majors. Glasser, Seaver King (though injured), Lipscomb, YoYo, and Abimilec are all worth something, but looking up at good regulars plus Tena and Vivas. That's just Rochester.

Get a good reliever, someone like Beeter, and a useful guy, like Eddie Yean. That helps the bullpen.

With Irvin back, the rotation is better.

This team has had a winning record in only one month of the season. Since trading Mead they've only scored 2 runs in half their games.

This was fun while it lasted. I think I have some hope for the next couple years. Unfortunately, the TOR series killed us and now the Braves come in for the double tap.

What's sad is all we needed was a slightly below average bullpen.

Toboni could still make a "slightly below average bullpen" with some careful trading of some of the good-but-blocked players at Rochester, and by promoting Glasser and King while moving shrubs like Vivas and Tena. Mikolas is still a problem, and he starts today.

hard to understand with Wood, Abrams, Garcia, Lile. Even Ruiz, Tena, and Mead for most of the year
