With Alcaraz out Djokovic has his eyes on number 25. Could an American finally win?  Probably not. Maybe Shelton has a shot. Could be a chance for Zverev to finally get a major.

The Ladies Singles final was rather pathetic. Two Czech women; first time champion for that country. It seemed like 70% of the time, they could not land their first serve. Lots of unforced errors. It did not look like a final match.

The Gentlemen's Singles final, on now. Set One = 6-6 then 7-7 in the tiebreaker until Zverev won it. They are both hitting the ball as hard as they can. They are both going to wear themselves out, if it continues like this.

Sinner is 0-9 in tennis matches that last over 3 hours. They are 2 hours 10 minutes as Set 3 begins.

Four American men into the 4th round at the USOpen. And three more have a chance today. Tommy Paul plays Alcaraz tomorrow so he probably toast.  But maybe Carlos will tie as the tourney goes on as he handy played in a while.

One of my 8 or 9 different Orthopedic specialist surgeons, I've lost count, was the Ortho Doc for the US Men's Tennis team, among others.  Not sure if he still is.  He's doing my AC joint surgery in November...

My knee replacement Ortho was offered the Green Bay Packers Ortho Doc position YEARS ago and turned it down...

Well Tommy Paul got crushed by Alcaraz. No surprise there except he doesn’t need to play for months to remain shaorp.

Tiafoe and Michelson win easily and face each other in the quarterfinals.

Go Big Foe the DMV guy.

On the men’s side Learner Tien put up a fight but lost a five setter. The three surviving Americans are on Alcaraz side of the draw.  So slim chances. Zverev looks real good.  He might just win the thing.

On the women’s side Pegula and Navarro match in the battle of the filthy rich kids. Winner probably plays Snalaneka. Coco looks great and is on the other side of the draw.

Just finished watching a five setter men’s match. Over five hours. Amazing how these guys can keep going.

Michelson was cruising. Won first two sets and hadn’t lost a set all tournament. Up a break in third set. Then lost that and now down in the fourth set to Tiafoe. He looks flustered and not unexpected I guess for a guy who has not reached this level before.

i didn't watch, just saw the scores this AM. Crazy sets: Shelton won 6-7, 6-1, 6-3, 1-6, and 7-6 with a 10-7 tiebreaker in the final set.

Officially ended at 3:33 (3:32:59 in Michigan) (Sorry Blue, couldn't resist . )

I was in Sinner's hometown last year...it's pretty much Austrian German, as is much of SudTirol.  A valley over in Ortisei the majority speak 'Ladin" a regional romance language dialect, like Romansch in Switzerland. So, a Ladin enclave in a German region in an Italian country.
