If he tanks here, it's justification to send him down and bring back Henry.

This is getting too close. Parker is nothing like as good as Alvarez.

It was a bit uncomfortable to see Parker stay in, but his manager had faith in him, and he closed it out successfully.  Besides resting the pen it has value on player and team morale to give a player a chance to work his way through it.  I like the way he's managing the club.

Not what I would do. He struck out 3 batters in the 8th on 9 pitches after hitting the lead off batter.

In terms of wear and tear, it matters that they don't get a guy up and have him throw even if he doesn't come in. Meanwhile, everyone except Poulin and Parker got 2 days off before the next day off. Should really be recovered, and everyone can go tomorrow, which happens to be a Mikolas day.

Franny was just talking about how much better the 'pen is now versus a few days ago.  Tanned, rested and ready.  It's all because the long guys have been really good at holding up for their 3-4 innings, not to mention starter success over the last week.

I think they may want to  give Ribalta, Beeter, Varland, and Lovelady an inning each tomorrow. Schultz hasn't pitched in 4 days.
