Home run rate drives the difference between Perez and Griffin in terms of FIP, while BABIP and LOB% dirve the ERA difference. K% and BB% are similar for both. Perez needs help from his D, while Griffin doesn't let his D help when balls are out of the park. Griffin has been hit around a lot his last two outings (14 ER over 9.1 IP). Perez has  had only one rough start: his last one, when he gave up 4 runs over 5 IP but limited damage with an unusual 10Ks.

White, Kim, and Sandy Leon are in the lineup, with Acuna DH'ng. Nats go with their lineup against lefties, with Mead, Chappy, Young, Nunez, and Ruiz playing. It's not a straight every-other-day alternation of Ruiz and Millas; Millas doesn't start against lefties. Lile is the corner OF that gets to DH, while Wood shifts to left.

Not clear why the start is being delayed. Not raining and the field is not covered. Says 4:30 start now.

Looks like heavy rain coming at 6:00.  So one would think they would have wanted to start on time.

Smaller storm maybe coming through at 4:45 PM. I guess they don't want to handle this like  they handled the Irvin game.

OK, they are forgiven. The Indy 500 just finished. Maybe the umpires were waiting for the race?

Chapparo sucks. Tell me again why he is still in the organization? I don’t think the dude threw a fastball all inning.

No idea why Chappy not only plays, but is hitting third

Never have to worry about flyballs with Young in the outfield.

against a lefty, I kinda think JY should hit 3rd. I never thought I'd say that, but the power is looking real

Past few years, our righty hitters stunk. Thomas being the closest thing to an exception. House was pretty good against lefties. Luckily, both Wood and Abrams can handle lefties when they are going well

Fly to center withJY there. Ho hum.

NinPWC- does the park actually make noise on those flies or is it a sound effect on the broadcast?

Awful called strike. Too bad we burned the 1st challenge on the 1st pitch to the 2nd batter

no. He really does need to be more than a platoon guy and he needs to field. Morales is playing 1st again. I think Chappy plays until he does ok or is dfa'd to open a slot for Morales
