Was it Harper that Maddon walked every time up in a series and sent into a funk? Try it with Soto

Yes, it was Harper. That's what I remember every time Soto hits a homer against the Nats.

Tough call for the 9th. 2 lefties (melendez, Baty) then Semien (righty) followed by Ewing. I think you want a lefty for this stretch. Alvarez? Lovelady  threw 10 pitches yesterday, but Baty is the only guy scheduled that he faced yesterday. Poulin?

I'd go with Alvarez.

came in it was 4-2, plus I think you get a save if you finish the last 3 innings.

It is a save. He pitched the last four innings. And he came in with a two run lead.

Keep Alvarez on the big club. He deserves it.

If Alvarez goes back down to AAA somebody in the organization needs to be fired.

This team is different.   We have what it takes with a few minor tweaks.   We should look for an early pitching trade

It's a terrific combo to go Littell and Alvarez. They both are on the same schedule. Load with lefties against Littell, easier for Alvarez when he picks him up.

Butera is runing a couple of combos. This  one is  more rigid, but Lord behind Griffin also works, and Parker can pick up Mikolas or Irvin as needed.

Thank you to friends old and new who participated by viewing or posting comments.

With the :w: posted, we honor the memory of our friend Old Chelsea with the traditional post that tracks the Nats wins to date, in Anglophile style.

THE RACING PRECEDENTS - Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 25th win, each season:

2017 - 16th May (38th match of season)
2016 - 19th May (41st match)
2026 - 20th May (50th match)
2018 - 21st May (47th match)
2012 - 21st May (42nd match)
2015 - 22nd May (42nd match)
2013 - 24th May (48th match)
2014 - 25th May (50th match)
2010 - 28th May (49th match)
2025 - 28th May (55th match)
2005 - 29th May (50th match)
2024 - 29th May (54th match)
2019 - 1st June (58th match)
2011 - 2nd June (56th match)
2023 - 2nd June (57th match)
2006 - 4th June (57th match)
2008 - 5th June (61st match)
2007 - 8th June (61st match)
2021 - 9th June (58th match)
2022 - 21st June (71st match)
2009 - 5th July (80th match)
2020 - 26th September (59th match)

25 wins in 50 games. 50 game record always evokes memories of 2019, but the Nats have been 25-25 twice before in important seasons - 2005 and 2014 (IMO, the best regular season team).
