Fpr those who count these things, Thornton is way over 50 pitches.

Nunez doesn't get on base much, but when he does, he's nearly impossible to get out on the basepaths.
on 49 times this year, with 21 SBs.

They need to try to get 6 innings out of Littell, even if it means blowing the lead. Gotta try to win the battle and the war this game.

Honestly I'm fine with giving a few meaningless, freebie homers to Soto if it means keeping the pitch count low.

Two outs, bases empty, and Butera's analytics tell him to pitch to Juan Soto??

Interesting that 12 of the 15 HRs hit vs Littell have been by lefties. Franny mentioned it and it checks out

Under 50 through 4, not bad. if they get another insurance inning or two, I'm fine with him testing Soto like that again.

48 pitches through 4 for Littell. Get him more runs so he can go deeper

We were thinking the same thing at the same time. Soto is 5 batters away. Ewing and Benge are lefties, Senger and Bichettte are righties.

Even if he gives up a few runs, i'd keep him in if his pitch count is still low. I'm taking the risk that the Nats offense will get more runs.

Dave J says Littell has no groundouts. Two popups and the rest flyouts.

Ok. Did his job. Can go to Alvarez now with bases empty start of an inning

I’m not taking him out because Poulin has been garbage all year.   See if he can get through 7.   We really need to save the pen for tomorrow

Ah, Alvarez warming up. That makes more sense than Poulin again.

Butera not allowed to challenge? C&D say that Senger was blocking the plate, so a challenge should have given the Nats a run

I like Alvarez, but at some point, they have to stop pulling the starters.   Irvin a couple of days ago was absolutely dealing, now Littell, who isn’t quite dealing but pitching well, pulled with even less pitches
