House gets thrown into a playing time squeeze of 4 players into 3 slots - House, Morales, Chaparro, Ortiz at DH, 1st, and 3rd. I imagine House will get nearly full-time at 3rd, Morales will occasionally fill in but play every day mostly at 1st or DH, and that Chaparro and Ortiz will slip into a platoon unless one can play some outfield.

Toboni says they didn’t want House to become a platoon player so he’s going to play 3rd every day in a lower pressure situation to work on hitting RHP and fielding. They are still high on him.

Spencer Nussbaum wrote that the Nats want House to learn to hit right-handers, and to attack on defense. Toboni says House is a future Gold Glover if he does.

This is going to be a weird situation. He only needs 13 days back on the MLB roster to reach a full year of service time. He's going to keep crushing the ball in AAA. But he also doesn't walk enough, Mead's a better MLB hitter right now, and House is younger than Seaver King.

Leave him down. As long as we're playing competitive baseball he has no place here. If/when/if we crater, then entertain bringing him back up. Obviously if he can figure out how to walk or how to hit righties, then bring him up ASAP.

We have a MLB roster full of guys that can seemingly hit in AAA but not the Bigs...let him figure it out...he ain't ready for prime time...

when House can hit righties and take a walk, the Nats can move Mead to second and drop Vivas or Tena

Also the real killer was that his defense regressed. That's probably mental so might as well give him time without the pressure.

Toboni & Co. think House needs to improve on hitting RHP. That and he needs to field more aggressively.

Management has been so good that I trust their judgement. And House's average against RHP tells us he needs work someplace in the minors.

It's not just about winning; it's about spending the least amount of money for this season and future seasons. I doubt we'll see him again this season.

you have a point. Vivas has for his major league career had reverse splits. .313 / .796 vs LHP, .201 / .587 vs RHP, but he's only had 20 ABs against LHP.

In the minors in 2025 he also had a very slight reverse split.

The team has said they demoted House so he wouldn't end up being a platoon player and to take stress off him against RHP. Let's see if it works.

Operation Patience. We need House to be an everyday player. It was debatable whether or not he should have started the season in Triple A. Let's leave him down in Triple A for a bit and let him simmer.

Also, I think we need to point out that Toboni gave up one of our system's top 30 prospects to get Vivas. Giving up on Vivas so quickly would be problematic from a sunk cost/contract point of view.

He has an OBP of .324. This is were he belongs.
