"Lyon is the son of Brandon Lyon, who spent parts of 12 years as a big league reliever who racked up 79 saves. Isaac is a 6-foot-3, 200-pound righthander who fills up the zone at a high clip with four pitches and spent all of 2025 as Grand Canyon’s Friday night starter, where he went 3-4, 4.19 with a 22.4% strikeout rate to 5.9% walk rate in 86 innings. He sits in the 90-93 mph range with a fastball that has tons of sink. Lyon also has three distinct secondaries: a mid-80s slider, low-80s changeup and upper-80s cutter. The changeup and slider both generated whiff rates near 40%, and his changeup in particular tunnels quite well with his two-seamer, averaging nearly 20 inches of armside break in 2025. Purely in terms of walk rate, Lyon has been one of the more impressive—and consistent—college strike-throwers in the class, though he pitches exclusively from the stretch and scouts wonder whether his delivery is a better fit for the bullpen."

Rough start to AA, but his last 4 starts since 6/18 he's gone at least 6 IP in 3, thrown 24.1 IP, and really limited the BBs (3, or 3.2 BB%). Ks are only 20.2% but ERA 2.22 and FIP 3.46. I'm good with him finishing the year in AA to see if he can keep that up before bumping him up next year.
