I like Varland’s approach, stayed confident and aggressive.

It was a pretty good 8th and 9th from Lovelady and Garland. Couple of doubles but pretty dominant.

Bullpen has been very good the last 5 games of the trip. Throw out the Cornelio appearance, and it's more games.

Really good for CJ to get off the snide

At this point, make Mikolas a reliever. Hes pretty much doing it already

Certainly won't complain about a win - but, had it not been for CJ's homer, our 'offence' would have been an error and an unexpected broken-bat slice... ;)

(and who was that imposter who played as Mikolas for a couple of innings... :D )

This game was a steal. Peralta vs Mikolas, scoring the winning runs off Luke Weaver, relying on released / DFA'd pitchers in high leverage . . .

Usually you don't get to act as a spoiler until September. Today the Nationals are doing it in April.

Thank you to friends old and new who participated by viewing or posting comments.

With the :w: posted, we honor the memory of our friend Old Chelsea with the traditional post that tracks the Nats wins to date, in Anglophile style.

THE RACING PRECEDENTS - Comparative dates on which the Nationals notched their 15th win, each season:

2016 - 24th April (18th match of season)
2012 - 25th April (18th match)
2017 - 25th April (20th match)
2014 - 26th April (25th match)
2026 - 30th April (32nd match)
2013 - 1st May (28th match)
2024 - 1st May (30th match)
2018 - 1st May (30th match)
2005 - 2nd May (26th match)
2011 - 2nd May (28th match)
2025 - 3rd May (34th match)
2010 - 4th May (26th match)
2008 - 4th May (32nd match)
2019 - 4th May (32nd match)
2015 - 6th May (29th match)
2023 - 8th May (35th match)
2021 - 13th May (33rd match)
2007 - 16th May (40th match)
2006 - 18th May (41st match)
2009 - 24th May (44th match)
2022 - 25th May (44th match)
2020 - 5th September (38th match)

If you look at this on a per "match" basis, it's interesting company this season is keeping. 2008 and 2019 are the same pace (e.g., on pace with a season we had the worst record and qualified for drafting Stras and on pace with the World Series year), and 2026 is a game ahead of 2021, the last year the Nats were over .500 as late as June.
