Moroknek capped off his BU career by leading the team in hits (81), batting average (.372), total bases (153), RBIs (57), home runs (18), runs scored (57), slugging percentage (.702) and OPS (1.145). He was a Second Team All-BIG EAST selection that ranked second in the conference in total bases and home runs. Moroknek ranked 42nd in the NCAA in total bases, 49th in slugging percentage, 58th in home runs, 60th in batting average, and 82nd in total hits. Moroknek set a BU record in 2025 by recording 153 total bases. He also tied a single-game school record twice during his career. The Carmel product hit three home runs in a road game at Eastern Michigan in 2024 and accomplished that feat again in 2025 with three homers in one game at Lindenwood. Moroknek was a two-year starter at Butler that scored 95 runs in 109 total games. He hit .350 over that two-year period, recording 150 hits (30 doubles and 31 home runs) to help generate 101 RBIs.
11th Round, #321 Overall: Jack Moroknek, Coll Jr. OF from ButlerRanks by major shops: BA=398Morokneck is listed as a “Coll Sr” on MLB’s draft tracker, but he is finishing up his third year of college. He came into school old, so he’s already turned 22. I’m calling him a Coll Jr. irrespective of what MLBpipeline says. He was Butler’s leading hitter this year, slashing .372/.443/.702 with power. He’s a 6’3″ classical big guy corner OF (he played a lot of RF for Butler) and the BA scouting profile shows promise. In a repeating trend, his scouting report talks about his elite Exit Velocity (EV), putting him at 90% percentile for D1. This is not the first time we’ve seen EV listed prominently for a player the team has drafted, and I have to believe this is a specific marker our new-fangled scouting department is focusing on.11th rounders are always an interesting set of players, often with the talent level to have been more like a 5th/6th rounder and often commanding a premium over the $150k figure, so Morokneck will be one to keep an eye on. We’ve mostly tried out College Arms who slipped out of the top 10 with our 11th rounders as of late, often throwing an extra $100k at them, and have had varying success.
Kiley McDaniel's assessment of the Nats' draft:
Why doesnt this guy play everyday?
Got his first save today (yes, you read that right) with 0.2 IP, 1BB, 1K.
So ... we have a two way player?
Jack Moroknek (Class-A Fredericksburg, 22): When former scout Blair Henry went to Butler last year, he could not understand why there weren’t more scouts around Moroknek. He was big. He could run. His upper body was projectable, with some tweaks to make to the lower half. They identified impressive exit velocities. Now, the 2025 11th-rounder has a 1.007 OPS. (Unranked in the Nationals’ Top 20)
i haven't heard why he pitched, but I think it was his 2nd appearance.
